My name is Ray Pryor and I’m the founder of PrettySmart. My background? Well I’ve been drawing and programming since I was a kid, but I started freelancing graphic design in the early 90’s after I came back from U of I at Champaign.
Honestly I remember getting a couple “Don’t call us, we’ll call you” looks when I first started. During interviews, people would ask me, “Hey kid, are you a creative or a technical?” When I told them, “I’m both,” some would roll their eyes. You see, back then you were either a creative or a tech. and never the two shall meet.
Well that all changed in 1993 with the release of Mosaic, the first commercial Web browser. The birth of the Web and the resulting shifts in marketing ushered in an age where people who were both creative AND technical were in high demand.
This is when I started freelancing multimedia and web design for top Chicago ad agencies like Digitas, Foote Cone & Belding, DDB Tribal, Leo Burnett, and many more. I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects, from logo design to pharmaceutical sales tools, to banner ads, to webinars and websites.
So with over 20 years of experience, I have a lot of skills under my belt. I write code, I write copy. I design for print, I design for Web. I guess you could say that I’m a “Jack of all trades” – but I’ll flip the proverbial quote around and say that I’m a master of ONE.
Everything I do, whether it’s design, programming, website, or video, is designed to generate leads that turn into sales. That’s it.
